Hi just a quick update to say my sons face has had another improvement the swelling from the fluid has now subsided fully thanks goodness and all is still working well, He has made such a fast and remarkable recovery to which we say this is his age as the body is still growing at present. Nobody would be able to tell anything is wrong if they were to see him on the street etc it is only me and his dad who can still see the small tiny issue of his face just slightly uneven and a wider eye but we know about his condition.

Hi just wanted to give a quick up date on my son he has just passed the 19th week mark and is doing well he still has occasional days where he gets tired and has pains etc but on the whole hes doing really well.

My only slight worry is that I am getting used to his face which may sound odd to some but at the start it was so noticable it was obvious but now i know nothings changed really on the last bit of healing side and am not sure if it has changed slightly or if im just used to seeing him this way now......

Son went for some routine blood test this morning as he keeps catching colds and sore throats which is not like him, he is slowly getting a little more energy each day and then this knocks him for a day or two, get his results monday hopefully, though im sure its just his immune is low due to the RHS.

On a plus note he has now stopped using his eye patch at night...... but have got plenty in and eye drops if needed again. Fingers crossed hopefully not.

Hi just wanted to do an update on my son he has almost completly recovered from the facial paralisys his eye is still different onhis left side, though i will say on odd days his eye looks to be a bit swollen and his face appears a little droopy again but these dont look as severe and tend to lookk better after a few hours, was thinking this is just due to the rest of the nerves healing fully.

He still gets tired easily and seems to catch colds dead quickly at the moment too but apart from that he is doing well. his back pain and headaches dont seem to be as often as they had been too.

Just over 4 week mark and my sons has made a really fast recovery he came and told me last night how his smile was almost back properly, I have seen this coming back slowly but never mentioned it to him as I didnt want it to become and issue, His cheek is still saggy and appears swollen on the left side but his smile is more equal and his eye closes fully everyday now , he can now feel his eyebrow raising too but has said it hurts when he does this.

Son woke this morning with no headache or dizzyness today gunna see what happens tomorrow as it seems to be every couple of days, More improvement on his smile today :-) Eyebrow no change food still tastes a little odd,

Other thing is he seems to have a few red spots around his tummy button differnet to the ones he had before so will keep any eye on them.

Hi ty Bumpy hes has rested after school and had a long sleep in, he has woken today feeling a little dizzy and with a slight headache in the same place as the other day, He will be resting most of today and if he needs to go anywhere it will be in the car to rest him even more. Got a letter from a clinical trial place my dr has put his name forward for them to look at him, will have to look into it for more information but they are trying to come up with a new tablet to ease the pain you suffer.

My 13 year old was diagnosed with this just over three weeks ago. Initally on the Friday evening he complained of earache so just gave paracetomol, Saturday his ear was sligtly swollen, sunday his ear was purple and swollen but thought he must have an ear infection. Took him to the Drs he said his ear was a mess due to an ear infection and gave him antibiotics.
