Barbara's Diary - Week 18

Day 120 to 126 - Thursday 17th July - Wednesday 23rd July 2003

After sculpture class on Thursday I went with two other gals into lower Manhattan to a supply house where we purchased stones for our next project. Mine is a 52 pound piece of white alabaster and I am anxious to begin work on it.

My RHS increased my discomfort with the heat and humidity in the city and I felt like a limp noodle when we finally returned to Long Island after 6PM. We had two glorious days of sun and heat and then the rains came again! I find that heavy humidity aggravates my vertigo. Anyone else have that?

My main concern this week has been the feeling that my mouth is reverting to its droop. People tell me it's not too noticeable, but I can FEEL it when I am talking, especially at the end of the day when I am tired. Is this a relapse?

Here's what I look like, with my eye taped. Have you ever tried putting toothpaste on your toothbrush or pouring orange juice into a glass with only one eye? It takes a lot of compensating for the lack of depth perception, let me tell you!

As you can see, I can't quite close my right eye completely. The opthomologist still insists that I tape it closed to keep it lubricated. Since at my last visit he said I was improving, I'm doing exactly as he says!

I still see things wrong with my eye and my smile. My main worry lately is: "Is this as good as it's going to get?"
