Day 43 - Thursday 1st May 2003 |
Sandy drove us to Connecticut to visit our youngest daughter, Diane. Lillian has never seen her new house, nor Madeline, our newest granddaughter. Alex, who is two and a half, still wonders why grandma's eye has a boo-boo. Madeline, who'll be a year at the end of this month, only wants to pull at the tape on my eye! We had a lovely day, but after being with the two of them, I was tired at the end of the day. |

Day 44 - Friday 2nd May 2003 |
My doctor says I'm progressing very well. When I told him what the eye doctor had said, and that I was thinking of canceling my cruise, he didn't say not to. He agreed that even though my mouth is better and I'm smiling again, this thing with my eye could take much longer. As for the vertigo, he does not want to put me on any more medication right now, as long as I can handle it - and I can. It's just so annoying. I feel so guilty, but we are canceling the cruise. I just couldn't handle seeing Europe with only one eye... |

Day 45 - Saturday 3rd May 2003 |
Day 46 - Sunday 4th May 2003 |
Went into the city again to another play and then dinner with friends. Vertigo was stronger and I felt very unsure of myself on the rough sidewalks. I clung to Sandy because I felt light-headed and uncomfortable. |
Day 47 - Monday 5th May 2003 |
I am an artist and as such have been recruited by my Temple to work on a project. I spent the day bending over the dining room table, making drawings for the murals we're going to paint. I was so busy that I was able to forget about this stupid illness - and the vertigo was negligible |
Day 48 - Tuesday 6th May 2003 |
Did more drawings and finished the lot. |
Day 49 - Wednesday 7th May 2003 |
Took a bus trip with friends to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Manet/Valesquez exhibition. It was strenuous, but what a wonderful day. I can manage well in a large crowd, walking slowly, looking at the pictures. My only problem is if someone comes along my right side - I can't see them because my eye is taped! |
