Day 79 - Monday 5th January 2004 |
I’m keeping up my balance training exercises, and I dance around the kitchen for a few minutes every day as well, sometimes with Hubby, sometimes alone. It seems to be working. I am a lot more confident in my walking than I was a few weeks ago. |
I don't know how this challenging stuff works, but the therapist encouraged me to get back to my round dance class. So, Hubby and I went back to our class for the first time tonight, or to part of it anyway, and learned a couple of "balance-challenging" new steps. He must have bruises on his hands and shoulder where I kept grabbing on tight! I rested most of the day to save my strength, and I didn't last long, but it felt so good to be doing something "normal" again! |

Day 80 - Tuesday 6th January 2004 |
I think I have the eye care down to a good routine for me. Now I use mostly the "tears" during the day, for clarity of vision, and the gel at night. I also use both tape AND an eye patch that goes on like a Band-Aid at night. The tape keeps my eyelashes from rubbing against the patch and the patch keeps the corners of my eye from drying out. Hey, whatever works...right? |
This is turning out to be one of the coldest Januarys we’ve had in several years. Going outdoors requires so much preparation, with plugging my ear, making sure I dress warmly enough, and wrapping a thick polar fleece scarf carefully around my face and ear to keep out the wind. The temptation to hibernate is strong, and it would be very easy to just stay home and vegetate. But I’m so sick of staying home! |

Day 81 - Wednesday 7th January 2004 |
The therapist finally got hold of a TENS unit for me to try e-stim today. Wow, that was awful! It was so painful, and it didn’t even move anything. She said my nerves are badly damaged, and have not healed enough yet for the e-stim to work. I’m not paying for something out of my own pocket that won’t work! |

Day 82 - Thursday 8th January 2004 |
Wow! Rob has asked me if I would consider being a moderator on the ramsayhunt.org site! I’m honored, but I don’t feel as though I know enough! |
