Fran's Diary - Week 3

Day 21 - Sunday 9th November 2003

This was a boring week of lots of sleep, taking my meds, and more sleep! I was sleeping an average of 10 hours a night and taking a 1-2 hour nap every day. I really had no energy at all, yet I was so restless all day I could hardly sit still. My eye continued to hurt whenever I left it unpatched, so I was patching it most of the day, some days only loosening the patch long enough to put drops in. Even with that, it felt somewhat dry and sore. The pain and balance seemed to improve a bit as the week went by, but my hearing stayed the same.

Midweek, two friends came by to visit. The husband could not look at me! I wanted to grab him by the ears and tell him I'm still the same woman inside! I guess he was just embarrassed for me. I fell asleep while we were talking, so they finally went home. The next evening, another couple of friends stopped by for a few minutes on their way to square dancing. They brought a huge department store shopping bag full of over a dozen books on tape, all mysteries (which I love!), and a puzzle that one described as the next generation after Rubik's Cube. Bless them both; after an awkward minute or two, they just took me as I was. I had a feeling I was going to learn who my real friends were in the following weeks and months!

On Sunday I started to feel dizzier. This was strange, since I had been feeling better as the week went on. I also had blurry vision when I first woke up, even when I rinsed out the eye gel, but I didn't take that too seriously either, since it cleared in a few minutes.
