Day 523 - Friday 13th June 2003 |
|
|
I have just found out that my son has Mono. He had not been feeling well this week and running a temperature. The doc diagnosed it today. I have just read that Mono is linked to the Herpes Virus almost just like the RHS that I have. |
My son lives with his mother and stays with me and my partner on weekends and some weeknights. |
So, actually this brings up many questions. However, the biggest one is that since I am on high doses of Prednisone, should I be around him much? I know that Prednisone lowers the immune system and I am in the process of titrating it. The last time I was on Prednisone, I developed pneumonia, so I am very nervous about getting ill. |
I don't think I can stand to be away from my son very much, but do I present any danger to him, as well??????????? |
My doctor's office is closed, but I could call the afterhours doc. They usually aren't as much help, though. |
This is frustrating. He is feeling better and his fever is down. This is the first day that I have felt pretty well, so this just goes to figure. |
Hopefully, we can get him past the worst part of this and I can see him soon. |
Billy, my partner, can go get him and take him to get something to eat tonight. I will keep researching this tonight and try to get as much info as I can. |

Day 524 - Saturday 14th June 2003 |
|
|
I was only able to get the doctor that is taking the place of mine while he is on vacation. He stated that I should stay away especially if Ben is running a fever just to be safe. Frankly, I didn't get the sense that this doc knew anymore than I do. |
Billy (my partner) went over there last night and today to check on him. He will just stay with his mom this weekend until we know more. I have an appt. with my doc on Wednesday, so will know more then. |
Meanwhile, I am communicating with Ben by instant messaging and phone. His fever went up again last night, so he isn't feeling too grand anyway. I did sneak over there once and got some soup for him at good restuarant in town. I knocked on the door, gave it to his mom, and then ran. He waved at me from the couch and was laughing at me. |
