Day 8 - Saturday 1st March 2003 |
Was able to eat keep a liquid diet down. Had to keep taking the nausea medicine or the vomiting would start up again. Continued taking the vertigo medicine. The world was slowing down a bit. My mother in-law had to come out on Sunday to help take care of the baby so Dale could go back to work. |

Day 9 - Sunday 2nd March 2003 |
Same as yesterday |
Day 10 - Monday 3rd March 2003 |
Started getting out of bed. Still very dizzy. Eating more solids. Was able to stop the nausea medicine. |
I kept hearing things louder than they should have been. I would hear
something like a big band on the roof, I’d stumble out ot bed and look out the bedroom door. I was expecting everyone else in the house to be wondering what that big noise was, but they were just watching TV. |
Eyes are still bothering me a lot. Putting drops in about eight times a day. |
Interesting thing that works for me is when my ear is bothering me (itchy or
pressure feelings), I stand up, put my hands on the ground in front of me,
and l let my head hang upside down. |
I also realized how much my face hurt when it was touched. Like someone had punched me in the forhead and jaw. Very sensitve to the touch. |

Day 11 - Tuesday 4th March 2003 |
Same as yesterday |
Day 12 - Wednesday 5th March 2003 |
Went back to my primary care doctor with additional symtoms. Now diagnosed with Shingles. We asked him about RHS, but he said he didn’t think so, he’d
have to look it up, but he thought it only affected the upper part of the face. He prescribed Acyclovir 800mg 5 times a day for ten days for the virus. Got a referral to Ear Nose & Throat doctor. Had pretty bad ear pain that night; almost crying. Had to take a pain pill. |
Day 13 - Thursday 6th March 2003 |
Saw the ENT doctor. He said he’d hadn’t seen this in a long time, but I had
a classic case of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. He told me to start taking the Prednisone again, picking up where I’d left off. He confirmed the virus and vertigo meds. Then wrote a presription for Tylenol with codiene for the ear pain. |
It was somewhat comforting to have a real diagnosis. Not some abstract, mish mash of weird symtoms. |
Day 14 - Friday 7th March 2003 |
Feeling okay today. Pretty happy. Only thing bothering my today is slight vertigo and the usual inability to bite and chew food. I took a Meclizine for
the dizziness; didn’t help much. |
My eye is bugging me a lot. Can’t do much on the computer. It feels drys and everything is a bit blurry. Was using Alcon Natural Tears. Now switched to
GenTeal per my mother-in-law’s recommendation. |
Tonight I feel pretty good. Stumbling the tiniest bit when walking around the house doing some chores. |
Thank goodness we have such a good baby. |
