Rob's Diary - Week 13

Day 85 to 91 - Wednesday 30th April - Tuesday 6th May 2003

After my problems with balance last week I was happy to see that things have been a bit better this week. I'm not 100% yet and when I see long corridors or aisles (like in supermarkets) I start feeling 'out there.' Driving is OK right now but I'm still keeping the distances down for now.

One thing that's been bugging me this week is the regularity of my earaches. They're not full blown earaches... more like dull, aching and distant but still bad enough to notice. The strange thing is that the pain hasn't been restricted to the right ear this week but actually started in the left on Wednesday. Luckily, it died down through the duration of the week and towards the end it disappeared completely. Perhaps a coincidence was the appearance of a few small lumps on the outer edge of the ears which, like the earaches, have disappeared. Ahhhh. another coincidence spotted... earaches, lumps and balance all peaking and troughing at the same time. Hmmmmm, genius.

Received another diary this week from Liz who was diagnosed with RHS at the end of February this year. She only contacted me last week but has been very keen in adding her experiences and support to others. Thanks a lot Liz :o)

My muscle weakness above the lip hasn't really improved amd the soreness in the right cheekbone is still there. I've also noticed that my right eye waters much more than the left and at times it runs freely down my face. This might be one of the long term effects of the illness and if you have read the diary you will know that I mentioned this very early on.
