Day 162 to 168 - Wednesday 16th July - Tuesday 22nd July 2003 |

Over the past few days I've been experiencing an unusual amount of twitching in the muscles on the right side of my face as well as a strange numb feeling around the cheek. The involuntary spasms have been occurring regularly around my upper lip, cheek and eye... in fact it's happening right now as I am typing. |
Hopefully this is a sign that I'm getting a spurt of nerve regeneration after a lull of a few months and not an indication of something more sinister. I'm gonna keep an eye on this over the next few days because the weird numb feeling is definitely a new development which I'm not too thrilled about. |
Also when I close my right eye tightly shut for a few seconds and then open it my cheek stays tensed for a fraction of a second before relaxing to the normal position. It's almost as if there's a delay in response but why is it happening now after so many weeks of 'normal' operation? |
Another matter of concern is the vertigo which has been playing up a little recently. Just the other day I was walking down from a friend's doorstep and across the road when I felt a bit 'spaced out.' The ground felt almost spongy and looking around I was getting the goldfish bowl effect. This is after stumbling a little more than usual over the last few days but nothing else too dramatic has happened. |
At this stage I don't think there's any cause for concern but I'm going to be extra observant for the next week or so. |
The last time I started losing my balance again I had a relapse and was given another course of antivirals to manage the symptoms... |
