Day 43 - Thursday 3rd February 2005 |
Went in at 7:30 this morning. Lori, the other First Grade teacher, has to take her son to the doctor (he swallowed a “connects” ball the size of a dime.) So, I got to teach my class (our class) today. She came back around lunchtime and I went ahead and stayed until school was out. I made it all day!!! Boy, do I need a nap. |
I had a letter in my box from Bro. John (administrator and associate pastor) informing me I would be paid full-time until the 15th, GREAT!!! But after that they will make whatever adjustments necessary based on my ability to work. It also stated that before I returned to full-time status, they would need a letter from my doctor verifying that I am okay to return to full-time employment. It further says that once that happens (me returning to full-time) that we will need to discuss what my responsibilities will be because they do not plan to divide the class for the balance of the school year. The letter also states that he is leaving to go out of town for a week. |
Okay!! I have just been informed that I am losing my full-time teaching job because of this stinking RHS! Now I get to worry for the next week about what is going to happen. No stress there. This is not what I needed today. |

Day 44 - Friday 4th February 2005 |
I am still taking ½ of an Ambien at night. It seems to help me sleep better. I am hoping my body will get into some kind of a routine again and I can quit taking it. After the steroids, I never have gotten back to a normal sleep pattern. |
I taught Kindergarten today until 10:30. The teacher had a doctor’s appointment so they asked me to sub. It went really well. I didn’t do songs with a lot of movement. I knew I would wear myself out. I went back to the First Grade class and worked in there. Then the First Grade teacher had to leave early so I had the whole class for the rest of the day. I am worn out. I came home with a little bit of a headache and decided to cut it off at the pass. I took a Vicodin and Andy is going to get Chili’s so I’m going to veg. Supposed to go to the movies with a friend at 8:00! I am not sure I am going to be able tostay awake for the show!! |
Made it through the show!! Boy was it rough. I got home about midnight. I was soooo tired and then I couldn’t go to sleep. I didn’t want to waste my Ambien on the weekend so I just lay there until I finally went to sleep. |

Day 45 - Saturday 5th February 2005 |
Today I got some housework done. My house has kind of gone down hill since I have been sick. I can’t believe how much laundry I had. We went to a concert at church tonight. I had to put cotton in my ear, but I was prepared!! Worked great. |
Day 46 - Sunday 6th February 2005 |
I woke up with a terrible sore throat. Great!! This is what happened right before the symptoms and diagnoses of RHS. At least I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday so he can let me know if I have anything to be worried about. I had to take a Vicodin for my headache this afternoon. I just vegged and watched the Super Bowl with my husband. |
Day 47 - Monday 7th February 2005 |
I went to the doctor this morning. He said my throat was red but he felt like it was drainage. Nothing to worry about. He gave me Zyrtec. He also checked out some X-Rays I had done right before Thanksgiving. Another doctor had told me my heart was enlarged and I needed to go to a Pulmonary Doctor to get things checked out. Today, my M.D. said he does not see an enlarged heart as far as he is concerned. He did blood work and is sending me to a PD due to some breathing problems I have been having. One of the tests showed some air restriction or something. I told my doctor I had to have a release to go back to work full-time on Monday because I could not fford to be off anymore. He was hesitant and asked me if I was sure I felt like I could go back all day. I told him financially I didn’t have a choice. He was really funny. He said he couldn’t tell me then, but when he saw me for the first time, he thought, “She is not going to recover!” Then he said when I came in two weeks later; he was like “wow!” He says I am doing great and he expects a full recovery. |

Day 49 - Wednesday 9th February 2005 |
I went to the Pulmonary doctor today. He said my heart was not enlarged and my lungs look good. That is a relief. I am really tired today. Came home and slept for two hours. |
